Ideas for Film Title

I have been thinking of titles for my film, by researching titles of a similar genre and storyline:
- Letters to God (2010)
- My Sister’s Keeper (2009)
- Terms of Endearment (1983)

I have thought of similar titles like:
- My Best Friend
- Me and My Best Friend
- The Life of Maya
- The Life of Maya and Me
- Maya’s Life
- Maya’s Life With Me

- Maya and Me

I haven’t chosen my favourite title yet, but I am planning to use one of these ideas.

Treatment

Aisha is 16 and her mother past away with cancer when she was 12. She is moving to college with her best friend Maya next summer after her GCSE results. On results day Maya finds out she has cancer and finds it difficult to break it to Aisha that they may not be going to college together. When Aisha finds out about Mayas cancer they try to spend as much time together as they can, they build a scrap book about their life together. When Maya passes away, the scrapbook turns out to be Aisha’s salvation.

Here is my treatment for my film. At first I had different ideas for my film and wanted Maya to survive as she fighted the cancer, however i thought it would be better if she does pass away so the scrapbook has a meaning.

Audience Research Feedback

I got my results back from my questionnaire that I handed out equally to males and females: 5 male and 5 females. This will be very helpful with my development of my film teaser trailer, film poster and film magazine cover, to learn about my audience and what they would expect from my outcome.

• A majority of my audience were Pakistani and they found it more relatable if the actors were of their race, therefore I will be using Pakistani actors.

• 8 out of 10 people said they never have purchased a Film Magazine, because they were not interested as the price of film magazines were to expensive to invest in, therefore I have thought of an idea of a free magazine that will be purchased in a lifestyle magazine to encourage my target audience to read the Film Magazine as they said they would read it if the magazine was free of charge or fairly cheap.

P.S. I Love You, was the most voted for best film poster out of my 8 film posters the reasons they gave were, that it looked refreshing and the characters looked in role and intimate, also the layout was simple and not cluttered.

Review of Film Trailer Teasers

After looking at different teaser trailers, I have been thinking about possible shots and ideas I could use for my teaser trailer.

- close-ups of main characters
- shots of different emotions throughout the film
- different locations of the film
- not a lot of continuity used
- fast paced shots for an effect of tense
- slow paced shots to show the narrative
- title slates telling the narrative
- voiceover for narrative
- change of music as trailer shows climax of film

Review of Film Posters

After researching a variety of film posters, I have acknowledged a few reoccurrences in the products that fulfil the conventions of a film poster.
Lower case letters used for a laid back look
Release dates mostly at bottom of poster, near billing block
Billing block in capitals in small print
Famous actors names in larger fonts
Tagline not necessarily used in all posters
All main actors on the poster

I will be using these conventions in my film poster, and may challenge a few.
